Earth-Bound Building will host a week long intro to timber framing! Workshop participants will cut a 22'x22' car port with traditional joinery. Participants will learn both traditional and production (power tool) timber framing techniques, methods and tooling. The frame will be cut out of white oak using square rule methods. Upon registration and down payment, you will receive a welcome packing listing all relevant information and materials needed for the workshop.
This workshop is 1st part of our Strawbale House Workshop Series.
Queer, Femme, Women, Folk of Color and LGBTQIA+ Folkx encouraged to apply. Limited solidarity scholarships available.
As an attempt to keep costs down and allow this course to be as affordable as possible, we will only serve morning and afternoon refreshments (i.e. Fruit, Bagels, Coffee, Tea, Kombucha, Kimchi, Salads and sweets.)
Please bring with you the following items:

Carpenter’s framing square

Combination square

Carpenter’s pencil or scratch awl

16 foot or longer retractable tape measure

24-26”, 8 point crosscut saw, if not new, have it sharpened (Stanley 26 inch "Sharp Tooth” 12 pt. fine finish saw a good choice)

Safety glasses or goggles

A suitable tote bag or tool box for your things

Please put your name or some identification mark on all your things
Optional Items: We provide these tools, but if you have any of your own, feel free to bring them along
